The group coming up left Scripps Ranch at 8 am and went up the 395. It’s a 420 mile trip and it takes more than 6 hours. They arrived in the Meadows just after 4 pm. Dr Solberg and the boys staying both weeks spent the previous night down in Lee Vining. Mr Stachwick stayed at Porcipine Flats. During the day he went to Pothole Dome and hiked around the meadow. Dr Solberg secured our camp spot and met Mr Stachwick about 2:00. The boys got their sites set up in about 30 minutes. After the San Diego group arrived, we broke out the Mountain House. We also went to the store for a It’s It ice cream. We did a camp fire with lots of the usual songs and hit the sack early to get a early start the next morning. It was a bit restless night as our neighbors had a baby up crying a good part of the night. Those that brought ear plugs didn’t seem to mind.
