Scripps Ranch Troop 301

Tour De Scripps Ranch Hike

We met at the Jerabek park. From there we went around the baseball fields and got on the trail behind the park. We hiked up to Timberlake Dr and crossed it and went behind the houses on Sunset Ridge up the Scripps Lake Dr. From there we followed the trail up to Mira Lago Terrace, stopping along the way for a picture in front of Miramar Lake. We got to Lake View Park, then headed down a single track trail to Lake Miramar. We followed the trail that skirts the lake and got quite a few looks from the walkers, runners and bikers up on the road that goes around the lake.

We went the short way (clockwise) back the lake entrance and decided to walk back up to the stop light to cross Scripps Lake Drive just to be safe. From there we hiked down to the SR Library and from there through a vacant lot up to the Dog Park, we skirted a construction yard and followed a trail that dumped us out at the end of Canyon Lake Drive.

We went down the hill into the wilderness of the stream bed and culvert that runs below Scripps Ranch Blvd and hiked up to Hoyt Park. There were a few spots with tricky footing and stream was not very inviting, we all did our best to keep our feet from getting wet. From Hoyt Park we crossed Aviary and hiked up the back way to Red Cedar Drive. We decided to walk down Red Cedar instead of going on the trail behind the houses to save a few minutes. We turned onto Mesa Medera and took the trail that leads back to Jerabek and ends right at the Tennis Courts.

In all it took about just under 3 hours, which was a bit longer than expected. We had a couple of new Scouts that did very well and some of us finished by heading up the to the Market for a refreshment.
