Troop 301 “Rolling on the Riverâ€
Over Thanksgiving break, Troop 301 took a 3-night, 50 mile Colorado River canoe trip. The troop started in Arizona and paddled down the river to Castle Rock, just a little north of Lake Havasu. There wasn’t much current or breeze, so a lot of paddling was done by all the trekkers. For the most part, the group had the river to itself; the scenery was amazing. The scouts did get to count submerged tires though. Harrison Trubitt, Grant Ingamells, Vivek Vishwana, Dario Inunza, David Mosely, Troy and Keith Aylwin, Bryan Graham and Tim DeRego all had a great time they won’t forget soon. Thanks to Ms. Mosely, Ms. Hauschildt, Mrs. Stachwick and Mr. and Dr. Aylwin for making this trip possible.
In early December, the troop went camping in Agua Caliente and set off rockets at Plaster City as part of the Space Exploration merit badge (and just to have fun). We then explored the nearby mud caves and got dirty, which is something that every scout likes to do. Also in December, 26 scouts participated in the Rock Climbing merit badge program, at Solid Rock, an indoor rock climbing gym.
