Yosemite Fun!

Troop 301 had the amazing trip it’s been waiting for all summer: the Yosemite Treks. A 2-week endeavor, two groups of boys walked 50 miles in 5 days, and some even did 100 in 10. It was a very long hike every day, but there was beautiful scenery. The day packing group got to see sites like North and Half Domes, Little Devil’s Postpile, Elizabeth Lake, Spillway Lake, and Saddlebag Lake. The backpacking group got to see the Grand Canyon of Tuolumne, May Lake, Tenaya Lake, Vogelsang, Gallison and Bernice Lakes, and Twin Bridges. Thanks to all the parents that went with us and supervised.

Also, Troop 301 Scouts got to participate in helping Dingeman set up for the new school year. Thanks to Jacob Zimmer, Jake Vildibill, Nick Vildibill, Kyle Fisher, Nathan Khuu, Brandon Khuu, Keith Aylwin, Troy Aylwin, Eddie Vildibill, Nathan Zimmer, and Mrs. Sara Zimmer for a great job.

In addition, Keith Alywin, Troy Alywin, Kevin Graham, Shane Stachwick, Jake Todd, Nathan Khuu, Mitchell Ingells, Duncan Klug, and Shane Mitchel got their Aviation merit badge down at Gillespie Field in El Cajon. For one of the requirements, you had to take a plane ride. They didn’t just go on any ordinary plane ride. While a flight instructor handled take off and landing, the boys each flew the plane for about half of the ride!
