Day Hike Check List

Dr Bryon has aldready provided a great guide to be used in preparation for the Yosemite Day Hike. Here it is in a check list form.

Gear:
Duffle or Backpack
Sleeping bag
Mat
Mat Repair Kit
Day pack with hip belt
Socks (4 pair)
Underwear (6 pair)
Hiking Boots or Shoes
Athletic Shoes (optional)
Watch
Troop Hat and/or Wide brimmed hat
Troop Shirt
Shirts (3)
Insulating top
Stocking cap
Gloves or mittens
Cup and mess kit
Small bottle of dish soap and sponge in a baggy.
2.5 Gallon Zip lock bag
Convertible Pants (2) or Long Pants (2), Shorts (2)
Nighttime wear
Plastic Bag for shoes

Food:
Stuff Sack for food
6 Dinners
3 one liter water bottles
2-3 lbs of food per day each day in a 1 gal zip lock Vitamins (optional)

Toiletries:
Toothpaste and toothbrush
Soap and shampoo
Medication
Washcloth
Emergency toilet paper (a few feet)
Deodorant
Shaving gear (if needed)
Wet ones/bath wipes (the best ones are at REI).
Comb/small brush
Toe nail clippers

Essentials:
Mole Skin
10 Water Purification Tablets
Extra Car Key, if driving.
Snacks and money ($50) to buy lunch for the two travel days.
Sunscreen
Bug repellent (i.e. 20% DEET).
Chapstick.
Notebook
Pens/Pencils
Sunglasses
Toilet paper
Trowel
Small bottle of hand cleaner
Extra freezer size Ziplock bags for used TP as we pack out TP “Used on the trail.”
Aqua Socks or Strap on Sandles
Flashlight
Flashlight batteries
First aid kit
Matches in a baggy with TP and/or small candle
Small Scissors
Poncho
Foil Blanket
Whistle
Small Knife
Compass
Light weight swim suit
