The California Flight Academy Boy Scout Aviation Merit Badge Program is intended to fulfill all the requirements for the Boy Scout Aviation Merit Badge as stated in BSA Advancement ID # 25 from Boy Scout Requirements, # 33215E, revised 2002. The program will include approximately 3 hours of classroom instruction emphasizing hands on activities as outlined in the course synopsis. As part of the program, each participant will receive approximately ½ hour at the controls (in the pilot’s seat) of a Cessna 172 4 – place aircraft while under the close supervision of a senior flight instructor. In addition, each participant will receive approximately one hour riding in the back seat of the same aircraft while observing another Boy Scout at the controls.Participants will also receive a San Diego Area aeronautical chart, a CD ROM discussing the basic principles of flight and a certificate of completion from California Flight Academy.
