Agua Caliente & Mud Caves

Agua Caliente and the Mud Caves had sunny, clear, and windy weather.  Troop 301 was going to be in for an awesome time.
Mud Caves
The mud caves were very clear and nice.  Scouts had to wear bandanas because the caves were dusty and 90% dry!  The Scouts witnessed something amazing, as they all stood still, very quiet, listening…  It was pitch black, and dead silent.  Talk about once in a lifetime experience!!! 🙂
Troop 301 walked all the way up, led by SPL Duncan Klug to the top to get a spectacular view.  Thanks Duncan!!!

Cooking Contest

Troop 301 also looked forward to evening’s cooking contest which featured all different kinds of food.  Some of this delicious food included pork chops by the NightHawks led by PL Philip Steiner, Korean BBQ by the Pink Panthers led by PL Thomas Yip, bacon wrapped hot dogs by the Raptors, and finally, the guacamole beef tacos by the Flaming Phoenix, led by PL Ryan Tannenberg.  BUT, it doesn’t stop there. Our wonderful adults, after all, what would we be without them?, feasted on their on feeding frenzy which included chili, Korean beef ribs, chicken kabobs, and Oriental chicken salad.

In the end, the Pink Panthers won the contest.  But Congratulations everyone!

Campfire
Thanks to MC’s Philip Steiner and Anders Ortlieb, Troop 301 enjoyed its spectacular but relaxing campfire.  The Pink Panthers brought in a new original song into the campfire about Korean BBG, kimchee, and white rice.
Troop 301 gave its solemn memorial, as Dr. Solberg, retired his old camping chair, Troop 301 saluted a final farewell.

Back Home
Last but no least, Troop 301 had to drive home, right?  Driving along I-8 to camp, some of the Scouts drove through Julian on the way back once the roads were clear to pick up the famous, delicious pies.
