It’s a Troop 301 Holidays!

During December, Troop 301 had a blast doing all sorts of fun activities. For example, we went on the “famous” Troop 301 Scripps Ranch to the Sea hike (SR2DaC) for the sixth time. The 20-mile trip, ended with everyone looking forward to a well deserved rest and a break from the rain when they set foot on Torrey Pines State beach and dipped their toes in the Pacific Ocean. Let’s also give a big “thank you” to the Stachwicks, Kuypers, Aylwins, Klugs, Ringels, Bosworths, Fishers, and Solbergs! They manned the aid stations, and provided food and drinks to re-energize the Scouts, something all of us were grateful for.

Also, along with some members of Girl Scout Troop 8250, we once again created seed balls, a process involving mixing together clay, water, and seeds. Now that we are experts at this, we made 12,000 seed balls in the total ten hours we made seed balls. That’s more than 1,000 seed balls an hour or one every three seconds! Next month, we will go and distribute the seed balls in the areas devastated by last year’s fire season. Hopefully, the area will be successfully renewed.

Over the holidays, Troop 301 scouts and scouters C.J. Bosworth, Mitchell Ingles, Grant Ingamells, Garett Solberg, Jacob Zimmer, Dr. Solberg, Mr. Bosworth, and Mrs. Ingles went to Fiesta Island to launch rockets. With little wind, everyone’s rockets were easily retrievable and, much to our dismay, none of them exploded on impact.
