100 Boys
For every 100 boys who join Scouts:
30% drop out of Scouts in the first year, but as
adults, most speak fondly of their experiences.
For every 100 boys who join Scouts: Rarely does one
with a Scouting history go before a juvenile judge, and 12 families
will have their first exposure to a church.
For every 100 boys who join Scouts: one becomes a
pastor, 18 learn a life long hobby in Scouts, and 8 will enter a
vocation that was learned through the merit badge system.
For every 100 boys who join Scouts: at least one will
use the skills he learned to save a life.
26 of the first 29 astronauts were Scouts. 72% of
Rhodes Scholars were Scouts. 85% of FBI agents were Scouts.
4 of the 100, or 4%, will earn the Rank of Eagle Scout,
and 1 of these 4 will value their Eagle above their college degree.
(Dr. Bryon is one of these).
17 of the 100 Scouts will become leaders in Scouting,
and will continue the chain that will affect 1000’s of lives.
Scouting may be pictured as a great ocean of service, whose virtues and
results are like ripples of ever widening circles in the sea of
humanity.
(Adapted by Dr. Bryon Solberg, M.D. 11/29/2009).
